PERSON-CENTERED ACTIVITIES
What is life without activity and purpose? You may have seen your loved one become more isolated, depressed and alone because of their limited mobility and declining social network. Stimulating the mind, body and spirit with rich and relevant activities in a social context helps combat these negative feelings. Some residents just want a job, whether it is sweeping, watering plants or holding someone's hand our residents want to stay useful. This is where Fairmount shines! Our resident-centered activity programs are designed with the individual in mind. We gently encourage everyone to participate whatever their ability.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Our physical activity program focuses on core strengthening, balance, upper body mobility and fun! We offer "sit and fit" exercises, chair yoga and movement games, often accompanied with music. Our experienced fitness instructors asses the needs of our residents and adapts the exercise to their individual abilities. Our gated walking path allows for daily strolls in the fresh air. Weather permitting exercise classes are held outdoors. Physical fitness energize the body and makes us all happy.
SPIRITUALITY
Spirituality is supported through mindfulness, bible study, and/or meditation. Our residents can take advantage of our Bible study, nondenominational sing-along and worship with our Chaplin. Mass is also held for our Catholic Residents on Sundays.
MINDFULNESS
Mental stimulation is provided through professional storytelling, current events, discussion groups, bingo (hands down a favorite), board games, and our art program. Activities of this sort foster awareness and stimulate the mind.
Music abounds at Fairmount. Banjo, piano, guitar, sing-alongs, and harp music are some of our regularly scheduled programs. How about FUN!? Special guests, miniature ponies, birthday parties, and holidays are important in honoring the past and present, as well as a providing a time for visiting with friends and family. These activities together support the soul and empower the spirit.
